We are introduced to a range of characters across the globe who are leading their lives in their own unconnected way, right up to the point when the American President announces to the world that an extinction level event is due in 34 days time when an asteroid, 8 miles wide, will impact the earth. For some reason, all of these characters will come together in a bunker deep underground in a town in the UK called Slough to watch the end of the world on TV. Written by Guy Fagan

A mysterious man, who believes the apocalypse is a capitalist lie, springs Rhonda - along with Leanne - from jail, mistaking her for the world's greatest hacker but dumps them both on learning the truth whilst in Washington Rhonda's brother Scotty, a junior member of General Gaines' apocalyptic planning group, the Special Situations Group, advises the president to give the nation false hope with the make-believe Operation Saviour. Jamie and irresponsible house-mate Dave set out to find Jamie's birth mother in the hopes that it will lead to his twin and Layla but end up as captives and Father Jude, assisted by Sister Celine, is charged with investigating Christ's second coming. Jamie discovers that his captor, the heavily pregnant Skye, believes he is his twin, Ariel, who once deserted her and ends up delivering her baby before she points him towards finding his mother. Rhonda is helped by a cross-dresser who then reports her and she has cause to be grateful to Leanne for saving her though she is unable to contact Spike before Ariel tracks him down. Whilst Gaines gives a press conference on the false Operation Saviour Father Jude and Sister Celine travel to Warsaw to meet Frankie, a little girl who, having miraculously come back from the dead following a car crash, is declared to be the daughter of God and Celine is shocked when Frankie appears to be psychic Written by don @ minifie-1

Still on the run Rhonda and Leanne manage to escape tough marshal Tess Carter when Rhonda's desperation goads her into hostage taking whilst their erstwhile captor Ariel, Jamie's twin, uses Spike to hack into the government computer where they discover that Scotty is masterminding the plan to save a selected few in an underground bunker. Jamie and Dave spring Jamie's mother Mary from a psychiatric hospital whilst Father Jude impresses Sister Celine by saving a would-be suicide. However a sinister couple are tracking him. Jamie and Dave bring Mary, who appears sharper away from the sedative drugs, to Ariel's last known London address, where she makes two revelations, one bizarre and one wounding to Jamie whilst Scotty and Gaines rescue Spike from Ariel, who has held him hostage to gain a place in the bunker. They are watched by the same pair who stalked Father Jude. Jude himself travels to Naples with Sister Celine to meet down to earth supposed miracle worker Antonia, who encourages their non-spiritual feelings for each other whilst Rhonda is taken captive by Leanne's hillbilly family for the reward and once again Rhonda has cause to be grateful to her fellow escapee. Jamie and Dave return to Slough with Mary, who is killed in a freak accident though its news coverage brings Father Jude, along with Celine, to visit Jamie. Jude tells him not only that he is his father who abandoned him but that he has seen Layla and her daughter, Frankie, and encourages Jamie to seek them out. Rhonda makes it back home and is reunited with Spike. They are pursued by police but rescued by Scotty. However Scotty's boyfriend Gaines disassociates himself from the trio as now all three of them are fugitives. Back in Slough Ariel wakes up in an underground bunker where an elderly American woman gives him some surprising news and, in turn, he is forced to do a deal with her. Written by don @ minifie-1

Scotty realizes the flaw in the launch of the rocket to knock the comet off course but he is arrested and has to betray Rhonda so that he can be released to tell Gaines. In Malta Celine and Jude investigate the disappearance of Path to Enlightenment disciples on Paradise island, having to get married in the process and discovering their feelings for each other. Jamie finally locates Frankie and Layla with Layla explaining that she deliberately hid from him to protect him from Ariel who hates him. Unfortunately Ariel has also tracked them down. With a week to go before the comet hits Earth the Operation Saviour missile is launched to knock it off course whilst in Slough Layla gets a message from Ariel offering Frankie's safe return if she will go back with him. Layla and Jamie decide to call his bluff, leading to a stand-off in a car park where they are triumphant. Celine quits the church for Jude, who also leaves when he is told that the search for a Messiah was purely a ruse to give Catholics false hope, but for them romance would seem to be doomed. In her prison cell Rhonda hears that Operation Saviour has been a success and, along with the rest of the world, celebrates. But have they all been lied to? Written by don @ minifie-1

Gaines takes the president to his bunker but there is a change of plan as Gaines announces to the world that Saviour has failed. Shocked by Jude's alleged suicide Celine takes his body for burial in Slough and at the funeral Jamie meets Sutton, the old American who abducted Ariel and offers Jamie and his family a place in her own bunker. However Jamie is intercepted by Ariel, who imprisons him in the bank and impersonates him to Layla.. In America Rhonda is found guilty of treason and ends up on Death Row, where she re-encounters Leanne but they are rescued by Gaines and Scotty when Scotty is told that he and Rhonda are Sutton's children and are to be flown to England and the bunker. In the shoot-out with the prison guards during their escape Scotty is shot and wounded.. Written by don @ minifie-1

Reunited with Spike and her dying husband Rhonda, along with Leanne, Gaines and Scotty, is flown to England and the bunker, where she lets fly at her mother, Sutton, for faking her death, leading her children to be fostered. Paula and Dave, just married with Celine in attendance, rescue Jamie, thanks to Frankie's psychic powers, and save Layla, the whole group also arriving at the bunker. However a rock has jammed the door and somebody must drive a truck at it to free it. The trouble is that they will be sacrificing themselves to save the others. And Ariel may not be far behind...
