Will comes to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air. Phillip isn't too impressed by Will's behavior, especially teaching Ashley to rap and ruining his image to his members of the law firm. Uncle Phil gives Will one simple task: Take Ashley and her friends to their violin lesson, sit, wait, and bring her home again. However, during class, Ashley confesses that she doesn't like the violin, so Will takes her to a pawn shop in East L.A. and swaps it out for a set of drums. As expected, Uncle Phil is furious, but Aunt Viv reasons that he should let her play whatever instruments she wants to play. On top of changing instruments, Will also brings in his buddy Jazz as a new music teacher. Then Will is disappointed when Ashley admits that she doesn't like the drums. Will spots a sweet honey named Mimi Mumford but gets information from Carlton that her father is so overprotective that he's been given the nickname Dr. No. and that the only way to get by her father is to become a perfect gentleman. So, in a bizarre revamp of My Fair Lady, he teaches Will a few tricks, as does Uncle Phil and Geoffrey and Aunt Viv. It backfires however when he manages to get past the girl's father by putting on a preppy act only to find that the girl really wants a man from the streets. When he tells Mimi the truth, she doesn't believe him. When he tries to act hardcore, he finds that he has to switch back and forth between the street act and the preppy with her father. Philip's parents come to visit for the weekend when he wins a prestigious award. After finding the rehearsed lines of the Banks' to be boring and deciding to kill the story, Will talks to the interviewer telling her embarrassing stories about Philip's past barnyard life he heard from Philip's parents. Will is feeling homesick, so Aunt Viv suggests that they fly in his old friend Ice Tray for a visit. Aunt Viv is better at dealing with his rough exterior then the rest of the family, until he lays eyes on Hilary and they start dating. Uncle Phil tries some psychology to drive them apart by smothering their relationship with acceptance and playing to Hilary's rebellious nature. It backfires as Phillip and Vivian flip out at the news that Hilary and Ice Tray are getting married. It turns out to be a joke, of course, a test to see how they react. Later Will accuses Aunt Viv of being a hypocrite, he defends Tray for helping him out when he was younger - and inevitably leading him to Bel Air. Tray offers to take Will back with him but he admits that Bel Air is where he belongs. He then offers to take Hilary back with him, but she's offended when he suggests that they fly coach. Phillip and Vivian are invited on a trip to Palm Springs with Mr. and Mrs. Furth in his helicopter. Mr. Furth suggests that Will and Carlton drive his Mercedes there, but they get pulled over and Carlton's non-stop jabber gets them arrested. At the police station Carlton is dead set on telling the absolute truth but the police don't believe anything they have to say and accuse them of a rash of car thefts in the area. Their phone call yields no help as Mrs. Furth, amid the noise of the party, misinterprets Carton's plea for help as Getting into Yale. Will attempts to call home, Geoffrey answers but hangs up because he's off duty. Then Will gets the idea of confessing to the thefts so that a news crew will come down and film them in jail, and that Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv will see them on television. It works, and Uncle Phil and Mr. Furth get them released by reminding the police of the boy's rights. Back home Will and Carlton get into a debate over exactly why they were detained. ... The neighbor's response puts Ashley in a bad mood until a group of underprivileged kids show up at the door to sing Christmas carols - and who love the lights. In return, he helps them iron the guys iron out problems with their various activities, like doing their taxes. Will is shocked when Carlton reveals that the guys are taking him to MacArthur Park at night - a dangerous neighborhood the is heavy on gang activity.
