Seven years after her disappearance the remains of Scarlett Dreyfuss are found in woods. Simple Benny Clough was charged with her murder but new evidence acquits him. During pantomime rehearsals Father Brown learns that Scarlett made enemies among the local amateur dramatics group, one of whom is also attacked.
