On Avery's first day of high school, Tyler ropes her into his senior prank that ultimately gets them both expelled.

Though Avery 's assignments are perfectly executed, she misses the true point in her life skills class and receives a disappointing grade.

As a fun project, Avery and Lizzie decide to give Max a makeover. Avery sews her a pink dress and Max discovers that Avery wanted to change everything about Max, including her personality. Avery also discovers that you can't change who someone is. Meanwhile, Ellen and Bennett make each other try new things.

When they enter a book club together, Avery starts to feel that Carl might be more than just a friend. She has recurring dreams of them kissing and blames it on Stan. Meanwhile, Chloe quits dance right before a big recital to become a BMX rider like Tyler.

Stan enters a fashion show wearing one of Avery's designs. Meanwhile, Tyler takes an unforeseen trip.

Avery, and her best friends, Max and Lindsay, all discover they're dating the same guy. Meanwhile, Tyler is accused of cheating and must prove his innocence.

Avery becomes jealous when Stan spends the night at Karl's house. Meanwhile, Bennett gets Chloe hooked on wrestling.

Stan starts to talk in his sleep and the kids are worried that Ellen and Bennett are going to find out about Stans secret!

Stan is getting married to Princess, and to help fund the event the family submits the wedding to the Wacky Jackie television show, a reality program in which Jackie, a wealthy teen, spends her own money to pay for wacky and fun stunts.

When no one signs-up to run against Avery for President, she convinces Max to run against her.

Stan is nervous about his puppies after he hears Heather talking about princess being pregnant. Stan wants to be a part of their life but apparently Heather and her family are going to give them away. Can Avery, Tyler, Chloe, and new dad Stan get them back in time?

Stan and Princess's puppies, Gracie and Freddy, are sold by Heather's family to Ian, Stan's ex-owner.

Chloe discovers that Avery uses her to get close to a boy she likes. Meanwhile, Tyler pretends to go to a competition rather than telling the family he didn't qualify.

After becoming a part of Avery's circle of friends, Karl secretly begins dating Max.

It's time for the prom! Avery doesn't want to go with anyone but Wes. It's a miracle Wes is back. Wes asks Avery to the prom, she accepts and buys an ornamental dress for the prom. Chloe destroys it because she and Avery were supposed to have a day together. Chloe lies about what happened and leaves Avery suspicious about what really happened.

Princess's owner want to take her away to summer camp, but Stan devises a plan to keep his family together.

After accidentally ruining Ellen's new couch, Stan wishes he'd never been a part of the family and wonders what it would have been like if he had been a cat instead.

After running over a neighbor's lawn gnome, Avery asks Tyler to help her prep for her driving test. Meanwhile, Chloe's afraid that getting older will jeopardize her title as the cute one.

Their family adventure starts when the children's dad adopts a family dog named Stan so hopefully two fighting step brother and sister will come closer together as a family. It eventually works when the dog runs away and the two must work together to get it back.
